Last fall, I gave up my car for a bus pass. I try to read a book a week on the bus but mostly I just avoid eye contact with other passengers.

Proceed with Caution

While this PSA from the UK is making the rounds on blogs and such everywhere, I still felt the need to share. Almost every day while preparing to use a crosswalk, even if I have the right of way, I fearfully notice drivers texting or talking on their cell phones. Cautiously, I hesitate on the curb. Often, drivers will zip by, oblivious to pedestrians, other drivers and traffic laws. Sometimes, they'll stop suddenly, only to sheepishly smile and wave at me as if to say "Oh, pardon. I almost just ran you the f-over."

Amazing, isn't it? When you told me about letters students participating Every 15 Minutes had to write to their loved ones...ack! What heart ache!

I saw this earlier this week and was so disturbed. :( People behind the wheel need to understand that they're operating a HUGE piece of machinery and treat that power with respect!

We had a shuttle take us to LAX a couple weeks ago- my family of 4 and another family of 5. My husband had to ask the guy to stop texting TWICE. He said, "Oh, sorry" and finished his text before putting it away!! We were so pissed.

Lisa: It's so scary that someone who drives for a living texts like it's no big deal! I would be furious too!
